A reason to reconsider who is included in treatment research
The preprint examines immune-related features of invasive lobular carcinoma using additional data and tumor specimens. It is not a trial demonstrating the efficacy of immunotherapy, but evidence that can inform which patient groups to study. Preprint ↗
The possibility worth following is whether immune characteristics can help distinguish research populations within lobular cancer, instead of treating it as one group. The next question is not only whether the signal replicates, but whether it explains differences in treatment response. That is why this question deserves its own card, separate from the AI system’s discovery capabilities.
The next business opportunity in scientific AI may extend from finding promising leads to securing the people and materials needed to test them—and supporting the research that follows.
